A Deadly Business

1a) What are the 2 worrying trends about drug trafficking mentioned in the article?

The two trends are more teenager as young as 14 and women are caught in drug trafficking & the dealers are using Singaporean to traffic drug from one country to another or from other country to Singapore.

b) Why are Singaporeans increasingly being used as "drug mules"?

The main reason is that Singapore do not need a visa for many places and they also less likely to be checked as Singapore got a reputation of being tough on drugs.

2) What will you do if you find out that one of your friends is selling drugs? How will you react if someone tries to sell you drugs

I will first ask what's his problem and he is selling drug then i will try to resolve or minimise the problem so can he can out of the devil's palm which is ''drug''.If it is money problem is will recommend him to the Financial Assistance and raise a fund for him.It is out of fun, i will tell him the consequence of selling drug or drug abusing which i will said it below. It is out of stress and family problem I will tell him to go visit the counsellor or reducing his stress by playing more sports game with him or passing him the 101 ways of reducing stress manuals.then i will tell him to report to the police and arrest the person who told him to sell drugs and turn in himself to the police and remove his sins.

This is only if he listen to me.If he dun listen to me ,i will rather be the bad guy and report to him about his act.I rather he know his mistake then covering it for him and makes him think that it is right.

Consequence of drug trafficking

  • For adult is hanging
  • teens is caning and jailed up to 15 years
  • for girl is jailed for up to 15 year
  • bad company as drug trafficking need to mix with the gangster or drug abuser
  • control by the leader as a drug mulers
  • take up drug too
  • bad for health

So think before you do!!!

If someone want to sell drug to me i will first ignore him later i will inform the police.if he is the person i know i will try to tell him to stop.if i cant ignore the person i will run as fast as i could and the same thing i will do is Call the police.

Hawkers fall prey to brazen break-ins.

1a) Why is it easy for burglers to break into stalls at the two markets in the Kallang area?

The two market at the Kallang areas was an easy target for burglers to break into because the units are open at the top ,leaving it exposed to the thief. The other problem is that the stall holders like to put their money in their stall thinking that it will be safe to put there and also the thief is smart in their stealing.even thought a stall holder Mdm Chen had install a metal bar connecting over the front but the thief is also easy to steal her money by tying a raffia string to a basket and lowering it into the stall.they use a broom to sweep the coins scattered on the floor which the then hoist.
b) What is the Geylang East Central Merchants' Association going to do about the break-ins?

They held a meeting about this problem. They also in torch with the relevant authorities , such as the NEA and the Town councils to look into improving security possibly by modifying stall layout and design.NEA responded that those stallholder who want to equip their stalls with additional security feature like grilles could apply to do so.they also was going to make a drawing and measurement of the feature they plan to install to ensure they fall within height requirement. The stall holder had to pay administrative fees on $16 as well as paying a reinstatement deposit before work start.

2. What do you think should be done to tighten the security of the markets? What do you think of the burglars who brazenly break into the stalls?

I think they should 'cover' the holes of the food centre and make something can prevent the thief from climbing up the metal poles and pipes like building a height of the metal poles higher or building another wall long enough to prevent them to climbing over. The stall holder also must do their job by keeping the money and valuable with them every time the leave the stall even if it was in a peak hour.they should also buy insurance to guard against thief .If they got two much coin and cannot bring with them they can keep the coin into a small containers and kept into a safe place. The in-charges of this two market should install grilles and cameras in every two to three stalls.the two market stall holder should work together and try to catch the thieves.

what i think about the thief that steal money and ransacked the stall is that they are crazy evil and bad.i think he/she/they got feud with the two centre either one stall holder cause in the newpaper said that they ransacked the stall while the stall got 'nothing valuable??'

3 Cheers for the Team

1)i)Why is cheer leading an expensive sport?
ii)What makes cheer leading such a tough sport?

1i) The uniform of the cheerleader are of exact measurement.the white shoe and prom-pom are imported from the US and or Taiwan. From a interview from Amanda Tan,former cheerleader of CHIJ Katong Convert, she said that she need to spent up to $200 on a single performance put up by her secondary school. The uniform of the cheerleader cost about $70-$80.The People's Association Youth Movement estimated that forming a squad cost about $10,000 to $20,000.

ii)They need to train at least twice to five time a week, for at least four hour a day. They are easily injured their self. They also needs a hefty financial.Although they got medical insurance of $30 to $100 but it might not enough if they injured themselves seriously which cost about $1000 to $10,000.

2)What is your opinion of cheerleaders? If given a chance, would you join cheer leading? Why/ why not?

2)My opinion for cheerleader is that they are a occupation they didn't get respect in the old times even now cause people think that cheerleaders had to expose their belly and this is absurd.Their occupation is alot harder then office job or even some of the sport-involvement cause their time is not fix and they had to do extra training in order to put on their best performance and also for competition. Many may think that cheerleader is just for girl or girl waving prom-pom and screaming like mad but in my opinion they are not simple, they can be for boy and in a competition like track and field, school competition, they are the most important role in there.my another opinion for cheer leading is the are ''expensive'' as seen in my Q1 ,their item are super expensive and their organiser manager or teacher provide good medical insurance and service to them.Like nutritional supplements and vitamins, which cost about $50 to $130 per bottle.

If i had a chance i will not be cheerleader as i think i had to pay lots of money in,before and after joining the cheerleaders.the other for not joining is they took me lots of time and will easily cause injuries to me.The cheerleader also need to undergo a lot of trainings and i think i not up to it.
